The 6.5-inch iPhone shows up for the first time

Apple’s 2018 trio of iPhones is expected to include a Plus-sized version of the iPhone X, and a leak that happened only minutes ago claims to provide us with the first look at this device.

Brought to light by MySmartPrice and @OnLeaks, who both have a good track on Apple scoops, this leak shows that the iPhone X Plus will be, just as expected, a supersized version of the iPhone X.

In other words, it’s an iPhone X with a bigger screen, bringing mostly hardware improvements that are required by the 6.5-inch display.

In terms of looks, the iPhone X and iPhone X Plus will be nearly the same, with an edge-to-edge panel and a notch at the top. The vertically mounted camera on the back will be used on both models this year, and so will the glass body allowing for wireless charging.

Larger screen, larger battery

iPhone X Plus is expected to measure 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.7 mm, which is nearly as much as the iPhone 8 Plus - 158.4 x 78.1 x 7.5 mm. This means Apple will manage to use a bigger screen on a similarly-sized body, mostly thanks to the smaller bezels and the larger display.

The screen will definitely be OLED and is likely to have a resolution of 1242 x 2688 pixels, also featuring the latest tech that Apple implemented on the iPhone X, like True Tone.

Needless to say, going for a bigger screen means a bigger battery is needed as well, and the leak suggests the iPhone X Plus will pack a unit of at least 3,000 mAh, which kind of makes sense given that the iPhone X comes with 2,716 mAh and still has a hard time delivering a full day of battery life.

The launch of this new iPhone X Plus will take place in September alongside the regular model and the more affordable iPhone with LCD, so expect further information to leak in the coming months.
