14 DAY TRIAL // Apple has updated the App Store support page for iOS application developers with information regarding the adoption status of the company's latest iOS 12 mobile operating system.
On the first day of the year, Apple announced that iOS 12 runs on 78 percent of all devices introduced in the last four years, as 75 percent of all supported iPhone and iPad devices are using iOS 12. The data was measured by the App Store on January 1, 2019.
According to the refreshed App Store statistics page, Apple's iOS 12 mobile operating system now runs on 83 percent of all devices introduced in the last four years and on 80 percent of all iPhone and iPad devices that support iOS 12.
The new statistics were measured by the App Store on February 24th, 2019, to inform iOS application developers about how many iPhone and iPad users are using Apple's latest iOS 12 mobile operating system on their devices.
iOS 12.2 coming soon to boost iOS 12's adoption
Apple continues to release minor maintenance updates to its iOS 12 mobile operating system for iPhone and iPad devices and stops signing older firmware versions to ensure continuous adoption. The next semi-major release will be iOS 12.2, due sometime this spring.
iOS 12.2 introduces several enhancements to the iOS 12 operating system, including Apple News app support for Canadian users, improved Screen Time feature, "Hey Siri" support for AirPods, HomeKit improvements, and slightly redesigned UI elements.
iOS 12.2 will be released in March, probably after Apple's spring event, alongside the macOS Mojave 10.14.4, watchOS 5.2, and tvOS 12.2 operating systems for Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV devices. iOS 12.2 is currently in beta testing if you want to give it an early try.
