14 DAY TRIAL // On the first day of the new year, Apple updated its App Store statistics page for application developers to inform them about the current adoption of the company's latest iOS mobile operating system.
The updated App Store statistics page regarding the latest iOS 12 mobile operating system for supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices shows us that as of January 1, 2019, 78 percent of all devices introduced in the last four years are using iOS 12 and 75 percent of all devices are using iOS 12.
The last update was on October 29, 2018, and it showed that iOS 12 was used on 63 percent of all devices introduced in the last four years and 60 percent of all devices. So, we're looking at a whopping 15 percent increase in only two months, which means that more iPhone and iPad users installed iOS 12 on their devices.
These statistics were measured by the App Store based on all the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices launched since September 2014 that were signed into the iOS App Store from October 29, 2018, until January 1, 2019. The statistics also show us that iOS 11 is still used on 17 percent of all devices introduced in the last four years.
iOS 13 expected to be previewed this summer at WWDC 2019
While the tech giant is still working on updating iOS 12 with various incremental patches that address bugs and other issues reported by users, we expect them to preview the next major version, iOS 13, at the beginning of the summer during the highly anticipated WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) 2019.
Besides iOS 13, Apple will also show us all the work they've done for the next major releases of its macOS, watchOS, and tvOS operating systems, probably versioned macOS 10.15, watchOS 6, and tvOS 13.
