14 DAY TRIAL // Faster charging capabilities might be one of the highlights of the next iPhone models that Apple will unveil this fall, according to sources directly within the production lines.
According to an exclusive report published by ChargerLab, which obtained information directly from sources within the supply chain, Apple's 2018 iPhone models will include a more powerful 18W USB-C wall charger for faster charging capabilities, which could also come with the next-generation iPad models.
ChargerLab even managed to create renders of the 18W USB-C charger for European markets, as you can see in the image gallery attached below, showing the USB-C Lightning input instead of the classic USB-A port that was used in previous chargers. In comparison, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus come with a 5W charger.
Thinner design
The renders created by ChargerLab based on the information obtained from the sources inside production lines, Apple may have also changed the design of the European charger for the 2018 iPhones to offer a thinner and more traditional charger instead of the square-shaped form factor, making it more portable and convenient to use, especially when traveling abroad.
As expected, the USB-C Lightning port will deliver much faster charging capabilities to Apple's 2018 iPhone models compared to the USB-A port that the company has been using until now. There's no telling if the new 18W USB-C charger will be working with the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X models, which incorporate fast charging technologies, but not with the charger shipped in the box.
The Cupertino, California based company could unveil not one but three iPhone models this year, including an updated iPhone X model, a bigger, more powerful iPhone X Plus model, and a cheaper iPhone SE 2 model. Right now, there are only rumors, so we'll have to wait until September, to see what Apple has in store for iPhone fans.
