Apple released today the watchOS 5.2 software update for Apple Watch devices with support for its latest AirPods and the long-awaited ECG app in Europe and other regions.

Coming hot on the heels of the iOS 12.2, macOS Mojave 10.14.4, and tvOS 12.2 software updates that Apple released two days ago after the "It's Show Time" spring event, the watchOS 5.2 update is now available for all supported Apple Watch models with new features.

Probably the most exciting thing included in the watchOS 5.2 update is the availability of the ECG app in Hong Kong and various regions in Europe. However, you should keep in mind that the ECG app is only supported on the latest Apple Watch Series 4 models and the European countries mentioned below.

Also new in watchOS 5.2 is the expansion of the irregular heart rhythm notifications to parts of Europe and Hong Kong. Supported European countries include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and UK.

AirPods 2 are now supported on the Apple Watch

If you're an Apple fan, you probably already got the 2nd generation AirPods wireless headphones, but it turned out you can't use them with your Apple Watch to listen to music on the go. That changes today with the watchOS 5.2 release as it adds support for AirPods 2.

Last but not least, watchOS 5.2 adds support for real-time text (RTT) for phone calls, which was also added to the iOS 12.2 software update for iPhone and iPad devices. As usual, you'll need to update your iPhone to iOS 12.2 first if you want to also update your Apple Watch to the latest watchOS 5,2 version via the Apple Watch app.
