Apple released today the second beta version of its upcoming iOS 12.4 software update for iPhone and iPad devices to registered developers through the company's Apple Developer portal.
Arriving just one week after the first beta release, the iOS 12.4 beta 2 (16G5027i) is now available for all application developers and testers who want to get an early taste of the upcoming software release for iPhone and iPad devices, which should be available for everyone this summer.
We don't encourage people to install beta software on their devices, so this new iOS 12.4 beta release should only be installed on devices dedicated to beta software testing. Apple didn't publish any release notes for the second beta of iOS 12.4 at the moment of writing, so we can only believe it addressed some critical bugs that were present in the first beta.
We say that because Apple did not release a second beta version of its upcoming macOS Mojave 10.14.6, tvOS 12.4, and watchOS 5.3 software updates, which are believed to be available for testing sometime next week as Apple usually follows a two-week release cycle for the first three beta releases of a new major update.
iOS 12.4 public beta 2 now available for testing
Apple also released today the second public beta of iOS 12.4 to allow anyone who doesn't have a paid Apple Developer account to install it on their devices and report any bugs. If you're running last week's first beta, you can now update to iSO 12.4 beta 2 via the OTA (Over-the-Air) update system.
If you're running the first iOS 12.4 beta, we also recommend that you update your device immediately as this looks like an emergency release fixing a critical issue. In the meanwhile, we'll keep you informed if new beta releases pop up for macOS Mojave 10.14.6, tvOS 12.4, and watchOS 5.3.
