Apple has just released a new beta build of iOS 16, though for now, it remains exclusive to developers.

iOS 16 beta 4 is therefore available for download for registered developers, along with iPadOS 16 beta 4, which also shipped today.

The new beta comes as build 20A5328h, and of course, it comes without a changelog, with further information to surface at a later time as more users install it.

For now, however, there’s no ETA as to when a new public beta of iOS 16 could land, but there’s a chance this would happen next week if no major bugs are discovered in the meantime.

iOS 16

Apple announced iOS 16 at its annual WWDC event earlier this year, and needless to say, it comes with several major improvements and new features.

“Apple today previewed iOS 16, delivering the biggest update ever to the Lock Screen, and new sharing, communication, and intelligence features that together change the way users experience iPhone. iOS 16 introduces iCloud Shared Photo Library to seamlessly share a collection of photos with family, updates to Messages and Mail that help users stay in touch with ease, and powerful enhancements to Live Text and Visual Look Up,” the company said on June 6 when it previewed the operating system.

iOS 16 will be available for iPhone 8 and newer, and it will include an all-new lock screen that borrows complications from the Apple Watch.

“The Lock Screen features widgets that take inspiration from Apple Watch complications, making it easy to get information at a glance, such as upcoming calendar events, the weather, battery levels, alarms, time zones, Activity ring progress, and more,” Apple explained.

The beta program makes good progress so far, with the final version of iOS 16 to be presented by Apple in September when it announces the new-generation iPhone, while the public rollout to production devices should start during the same month.
