A new iOS update is on its way, Apple confirmed

We’ve known for a while that iOS 15.4 was supposed to launch in mid-March, and now Apple has finally confirmed the release of this update is just around the corner.

Today, the Cupertino-based tech giant shipped iOS 15.4 RC to developers, therefore giving them the opportunity of trying out this very first release candidate ahead of the public launch.

Most likely, it’s just a matter of hours until the very same build goes live for public testers as well.

Furthermore, the company has confirmed that iOS 15.4 would go live next week, so it’ll be available on day one of the new iPhones announced today – the 2022 iPhone SE and the green iPhone 13 models.

What’s new in iOS 15.4

The new version of iOS will come with lots of goodies, but without a doubt, one of the important improvements for users out there is the support for unlocking an iPhone protected by Face ID even when wearing a mask.

Without a doubt, some may feel that this feature comes way too late, especially as more states across the world are now removing the restrictions, so the usage of face masks is likely to decline significantly.

Apple previously allowed users to unlock an iPhone protected with Face ID using an Apple Watch, but this new feature bundled with iOS 15.4 makes it possible to do the same thing without the need for a smartwatch.

Needless to say, if you can’t wait for the final build to land, you can always go download the RC version on your device. What you need to know, however, is that these early builds typically come with an increased likelihood of issues, and this is the purpose of the beta program in the first place.

It won’t take long until the stable build is finalized, with the public rollout to start next week.
