Apple released today a new beta version of its forthcoming iOS 12 mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices as a drop-in replacement for the previous beta released earlier this week.

On Monday, as expected, Apple seeded iOS 12 beta 7 to application developers via its Apple Developer portal, but it was removed a few hours later after numerous users reported performance issues, including crashes, slow loading of apps, and other bugs.

Apple didn't give a statement about the issues that rendered the iOS 12 beta 7 useless, recommending developers to install the iOS 12 beta 6 version released earlier this month. But, today, the Cupertino, California-based company released another beta version of iOS 12.

iOS 12 beta 8 is now available to download

The iOS 12 beta 8 (build 16A5357b) is now available to download via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates or directly from the Apple Developer portal for registered application developers who need to test their apps for compatibility against Apple's upcoming operating system update.

Hopefully, iOS 12 beta 8 resolves any issues that caused the beta 7 to crash all the time as Apple fixed the problems causing apps to take longer than expected to launch. However, we don't recommend installing it right away and wait a few hours to see if similar reports surface.

According to the internal release notes, iOS 12 beta 8 also fixes an issue with the Settings app that made it quit unexpectedly when attempting to view or select a voice in Speech settings, as well as a HomeKit issue that won't allow Apple TV (3rd generation) to function as a HomeKit hub in iOS 12 beta 6.

If you're brave enough to install the new beta version open the Settings app and go to General > Software Updates or head over to the Apple Developer portal to download the beta profile on your device. Those with iOS 12 beta 7 installed should definitely update!

Meanwhile, we are waiting for Apple to release the public beta 6 of iOS 12, macOS Mojave 10.14, and tvOS 12, which should arrive later today via the Apple Beta Software Program. We'll have a new article up on the website as soon as it's released so you can update your devices.

Update: As expected, Apple was quick to release today the anticipated public beta 6 release of iOS 12, macOS Mojave 10.14, and tvOS 12 after a two-day delay due to some perfomance issues with the iOS 12 beta 7 release.
