Some components are now being used for iPhones

The demand for the new-generation iPhones is still strong, though, at the same time, Apple itself is also struggling with a shortage problem caused by the lack of certain components.

Apple too is struggling with the global chip crisis, and the company is now looking into all kinds of approaches that would allow the company to align the production with the demand.

In other words, Apple wants to make more iPhones, and it wants to do it now.

One of the solutions the company has turned to, according to a report from Nikkei, is cutting the iPad production in order to prioritize the iPhone 13 production. This means some components that would normally be used for making new iPads would now end up being installed on the iPhone 13.

This approach makes perfect sense.

iPad and iPhone share lots of components, and given the tablet isn’t selling as fast as the smartphone, Apple wants to focus on bringing more iPhones to customers.

On the other hand, there’s a chance the iPad production would at one point be impacted as well, so unless Apple has enough stock, the waiting times for the tablet could end up increasing too.

Clearly, Apple is prioritizing the device benefitting from stronger demand, and right now, this is the iPhone 13 lineup. It remains to be seen how fast the company deals with the component shortage, but for now, the good news is more people would receive their ordered iPhone 13 units faster.

The bad news is that whoever buys an iPad from the Apple Store might end up waiting for a longer period of time to get their tablets, especially as the inventory is slowly running out in the majority of countries out there.

Apple obviously hasn’t announced any production changes, but all the information makes sense given the current inventory problems.
