As per Apple’s typical approach, the company has stopped signing another iOS version, once again blocking users from downgrading from the latest version of the operating system.

This time, it’s iOS 14.7 the one that’s no longer signed, which means that once you install a newer version of the OS, you can no longer go back.

iOS 14.7.1 was released to users last week, while iOS 14.7 received the go-ahead on July 19.

iOS 15 coming in September

Needless to say, while most people are already on iOS 14, all eyes are currently on the next big update that Apple is currently working on for iPhones out there.

It’s iOS 15, the new operating system that the company previewed at WWDC earlier this summer and which is projected to get the go-ahead for production devices in September.

iOS 15 is currently in beta, so public testers and developers can give it a try ahead of the full launch this fall.

This new OS version obviously comes with massive improvements, starting with FaceTime improvements, SharePlay to share content with others, an updated Focus mode to reduce distraction, ss well as a refined notification experience that has been received with much excitement by users out there.

“To help reduce distraction, a new notification summary collects non-time-critical notifications for delivery at a more opportune time, such as in the morning and evening. Using on-device intelligence, notifications are arranged by priority, with the most relevant notifications rising to the top, and based on a user’s interactions with apps. Urgent messages will be delivered immediately, so important communications will not end up in the summary, and it’s easy to temporarily mute any app or messaging thread for the next hour or for the day,” Apple explained.

Just like its predecessor, iOS 15 will be available for iPhone 6s and newer.
