The trade-in program offers smaller values for Android

One of the easiest ways to make the switch from Android to iPhone is to just head over to an Apple Store, hand them your Android device, get some store credit, and therefore buy Apple’s smartphone at a discounted price.

Apple’s trade-in program can obviously bring you hundreds of dollars depending on the Android phone that you own, but as it turns out, the Cupertino company is no longer willing to pay as much as it did in the past.

In other words, Apple has reduced the estimated value of Android devices as part of its program, so for example, the top discount is no longer $545 but only $405.

MacRumors discovered the change, and it apparently affects all Android devices currently in the market, no matter if they are flagships or not.

How much money you get for an Android device

Needless to say, most people who want to trade-in their Android devices are Samsung users, but of course, not everybody has a flagship phone.

However, if someone with a Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G wants to give up on their phone and get an iPhone, Apple is now paying just $325 for it, down from the original estimated value of $435. The discount in the case of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra also dropped from $545 to $405.

The same thing for Google Pixel phones. If you have a Google Pixel 5 and want to give up on it in exchange for a shiny new iPhone, Apple will offer a discount of just $235, versus $315 a few weeks ago. The Google Pixel 4 has an estimated value of $110, Apple says.

Of course, all these prices could drop even more if the device comes with serious damage, such as a shattered screen.
