Reliable analyst claims a new iPad mini is coming

It’s no longer a secret that Apple is working on new iPads, and according to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, an upgraded iPad mini is also on its way.

Kuo explains in a series of tweets that the launch of the new model could take place in late 2023 or in early 2024, as the debut of a new iPad with a foldable screen is rather unlikely.

In other words, if you were waiting for a foldable iPhone, you’d better not hold your breath for the device, as it’s projected to go live at some point in 2025. And as a result, Apple doesn’t want to kill off the iPad mini and replace it with a foldable version, especially because of the high price such a device would come with.

While the new iPad mini could be announced at some point in the fall of 2023, the shipping wouldn’t start earlier than the end of 2023 or in early 2024.

“I think it's unlikely Apple will replace the iPad mini with a foldable iPad in 2025, which may be contrary to what some media previously predicted. It's because a foldable iPad will have a markedly higher price than an iPad mini, so such a replacement is not reasonable,” Kuo explained in a tweet this week.

“Additionally, Apple is currently working on a new version of the iPad mini equipped with a new processor as the main selling point, and the mass shipment is expected to start by the end of 2023 or in 1H24.”

Of course, Apple has remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to the new iPad, so just take everything with a healthy pinch of salt for now. Needless to say, Apple’s plans could change overnight, but a new iPad should show up in the fall of 2023, and this schedule makes a lot of sense.
