14 DAY TRIAL // Apple has just announced new Apple Watch goodies, this time as it celebrates Pride Month. The unveiling includes two new Apple Watch Pride Edition bands, as well as a fresh watch face that will go live in a future software update.
The new Apple Watch bands are called Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop and Pride Edition Nike Sport Loop, and obviously, combine the rainbow colors for a very unique look.
The Cupertino-based tech giant has provided a very detailed description of the bands, explaining that every little color was carefully selected to actually mean something.
“The Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop artfully weaves together the original rainbow colors with those drawn from various Pride flags to represent the breadth of diversity among LGBTQ+ experiences and the history of a movement that has spanned generations. Black and brown symbolize Black and Latinx communities, in addition to those who have passed away from or are living with HIV/AIDS, while light blue, pink, and white represent transgender and nonbinary individuals,” Apple says.
The Braided Solo Loop is available in 12 different lengths and is made entirely from stretchable recycled yarn interwoven with silicon threads.
Bands going on sale this month
As far as the face is concerned, Apple once again says everything on the screen has a purpose.
“With the rotation of the Digital Crown, the threads on the watch face infinitely scroll and animate with a raise of the wrist. For the first time, Apple is also including new App Clip functionality within the band packaging to deliver a simple and convenient way for customers to immediately access the new matching watch face,” the company explains.
The new face will land in a future watchOS update, while the new bands will go on sale in the United States on May 25 for $99 in the case of the Braided Solo Loop and $49 for the Nike Sport Loop.
