It looks like an iPhone 15 Plus is still on the table

It’s no longer a secret that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are both selling strong these days, while the standard iPhone 14 and the all-new Plus are only recording lackluster demand.

As a result, many were wondering if the Plus would become a short-lived product, with some people suggesting that Apple could even give up on this model as soon as this year.

But according to a new report, the iPhone 15 Plus is still on the table, which means the device could live on for at least one more year.

The decision to keep this model alive, however, is becoming much harder for Apple, especially as the demand for the Plus isn’t showing any signs of recovery.

Display analyst Ross Young says Pro models currently account for 75 percent of all iPhone 14 display orders, with the numbers expected to grow to 80 percent in early 2023. The Plus is only responsible for some 5 percent of all orders, so in the long run, it wouldn’t make much sense for Apple to keep this model in production.

Tim Cook himself praised the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max in the company’s latest earnings report but sidestepped a question regarding the Plus.

“The Pro has been a -- 14 Pro and the 14 Pro Max have done extremely well up until the point where we had a supply shortage and couldn't provide them -- couldn't provide the total of the demand. And so it's definitely a strong Pro cycle. I think there's a number of reasons for that, but the most important one is always the product. And I think the innovations and the product speak for themselves,” he said.

The new iPhone models are projected to be announced in September, as per Apple’s typical release calendar.
