The devices are likely to go on sale in October or November

The global health crisis has caused serious problems for Apple, as the company pushed back its planning phase for the iPhone 12.

And while the new models could be announced later this month, we still don’t know when they are supposed to go on sale, with people familiar with the matter claiming that October or November are two likely months when this could happen.

A report from Nikkei reveals that Apple will actually begin the production of the iPhone 12 this month, as this phase has been pushed back due to all the delays the company had to deal with because of the lockdowns across the world and impacting its suppliers.

The 6.1-inch models will be the first to enter the mass production, and they are also believed to be the first hitting the shelves. According to the report, the cheaper 6.1-inch model accounts for some 40 percent of all orders Apple has made at its suppliers right now, so it’s pretty clear that the company expects the most affordable iPhone to also be the most successful for the 2020 generation.

Launch event on September 15

Apple has ordered no less than 80 million iPhones, but the company only estimates the demand this year to exceed 70 million, while the rest of the orders should be completed in early 2021.

This is something that makes total sense, especially as the new iPhones launch later than expected in difficult markets all over the world. It’s still not clear to what degree iPhone sales could be impacted by the global health situation.

For now, it’s pretty clear that we’re getting closer to the moment the new iPhone will be available for purchase, and Apple is projected to announce all details at an event on September 15, including the full information on market availability.
