Company predicts “sharp rise” compared to iPhone 11

Apple is projected to launch the very first iPhone with 5G capabilities next year, and according to a new report, it expects the device to be more successful than the current models on the market.

Digitimes writes, citing sources from Taiwan’s supply chain, that Apple has already discussed shipment plans with its suppliers, and the company said it expects what is described as a “sharp rise” from iPhone 11.

In other words, Apple expects the 2020 iPhone with 5G support to sell in higher volumes as compared to iPhone 11, albeit for now, no estimates are available.

2020 iPhones

Apple’s next-generation iPhone will include three different models, each successor to the current iPhone lineup – in other words, Apple will launch upgraded versions of iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The difference, however, is that the company is expected to give up on the LCD configuration, but instead go all-in on OLED. This means the iPhone 11 replacement could use OLED as well, just like the more expensive siblings that already feature such display tech.

But at the same time, the introduction of 5G capabilities won’t be limited to just one model. Sources familiar with Apple’s plans previously said that 5G support would be offered on all iPhones launching next year, which means that even the most affordable version could come with this feature.

Apple is also projected to take the wraps off a second-generation iPhone SE in the spring, but this only is unlikely to come with 5G. This device will be specifically built to be more affordable, so it’ll lack more premium features like Face ID, triple-camera configurations, and top storage options. iPhone SE 2 could land with a $399 starting price and be based on the iPhone 8, with a similar body and screen size.
