The pandemic is far from over, and while the entire world is waiting for a vaccine, companies out there are reevaluating their options when it comes to the way their employees can remain productive.
Apple has recently announced that most employees would continue to work remotely until at least June 2021, and it’s easy to see why. With the number of infections still on the rise not only in the States but elsewhere too, Apple gives workers the option to remain home and thus do their jobs from the safety of their own computers.
A report from Bloomberg reveals Cook made the announcement earlier this week as part of a virtual meeting with employees, confirming that staying at home until at least June is the only way to go right now.
“There’s no replacement for face-to-face collaboration, but we have also learned a great deal about how we can get our work done outside of the office without sacrificing productivity or results. All of these learnings are important. When we’re on the other side of this pandemic, we will preserve everything that is great about Apple while incorporating the best of our transformations this year,” Bloomberg cited Apple’s CEO as saying.
Google and Microsoft also keeping employees home
Needless to say, Apple isn’t the only tech giant allowing employees to continue to work from home.
Both Google and Microsoft took similar decisions, and they also used the June of 2021 as the timing when the whole thing should be re-evaluated.
For now, however, it’s pretty clear that none of these tech companies are planning an en-masse return to the office. And this shows that despite the optimistic signals coming from vaccine developers, the global health issue is still far from coming to an end.
