While also making the iPhone 11 more affordable

Apple is projected to take the wraps off new iPhones in the fall of this year, and naturally, all marketing efforts would be directed to this new device generation.

But according to an alleged leak, the Cupertino-based tech giant is planning massive changes for its existing iPhone generation.

Naturally, when Apple announces a new iPhone lineup, the company starts selling it alongside the model it replaces, which typically becomes available at a lower price.

But when the iPhone 12 launches, Apple could embrace a different approach. Leaker iAppleTimes claims that Apple could end up killing off both the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, instead keeping only the iPhone 11 around.

And because this is the only device that will stick around for a little longer, Apple could make it substantially more affordable, with its price tag to be dropped to $549. This means the iPhone 11 could end up costing $150 less than its original price announced in September 2019 when it launched officially.

iPhone SE discount also planned

At the same time, the leaker claims that Apple would discontinue the iPhone XR, which more or less makes sense given the company will instead focus its efforts on the iPhone 11. iPhone 11 is a successor to the iPhone XR in the first place, so seeing the 2018 model going dark is something that’s very likely.

Apple’s 2020 iPhone lineup will include four different models, with the smaller to come with a 5.4-inch screen. The iPhone SE, which was announced earlier this year, will continue to be sold, and it’s believed a price cut would be offered for this model too.

iPhone SE 2020 is already the most affordable in the entire lineup, but once the new generation goes live, it could become available starting at $349.

Needless to say, we should take everything with a pinch of salt, as these are all rumors without a single word confirmed by Apple.
