The device could therefore land a bit earlier

Everybody knows that the next-generation iPhone is supposed to go live in September, but until now, no further specifics on the actual date were available.

But according to tipster Max Weinbach, the debut of the new iPhones could take place on September 6, which kind of aligns with recent reports that the company has already started the recording of the sessions to be streamed during the event.

If the iPhone 14 is indeed announced on September 6, this means the new-generation lineup would finally become available for purchase on September 16.

This is obviously earlier than usual, but if the timing is right, it shouldn’t take toolong before the Cupertino-based tech giant starts sending out invites for the event.

The new iPhones to launch this year

Apple will take the wraps off four different models this year, but the biggest change versus the 2020 lineup is the demise of the iPhone mini and the introduction of an all-new model with a 6.7-inch display.

Here’s the upcoming iPhone series, as per the existing rumors:

  • iPhone 14: 6.1-inch display, notch
  • iPhone 14 Max/Plus: 6.7-inch display, notch
  • iPhone 14 Pro: 6.1-inch display, no notch, punch-hole screen
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max: 6.7-inch display, no notch, punch-hole screen

Without a doubt, the Pro models will be the stars of the show this year, especially as Apple will introduce a punch-hole display, therefore giving up on the controversial notch. On the other hand, it looks like the notch will live on for a little bit longer on the standard models, though it’s believed the switch to a punch-hole display would also happen on the upcoming generations.

People familiar with the matter said a price increase is also likely, as each iPhone in the model could end up becoming $100 more expensive than the current devices.
