So you can now use two eSIMs at the same time

One of the improvements coming to the iPhone 13 and which Apple surprisingly hasn’t talked about during the September 14 event is the support for dual eSIM.

Dual SIM was already available on the iPhone, though the existing implementation only allowed owners to use one eSIM paired with a traditional physical SIM.

But beginning with the iPhone 13, this capability is further enhanced by making it possible to use two eSIMs at the same time, essentially making the traditional SIM rather obsolete.

Big bet on 5G

Just like the previous generation, the iPhone 13 comes with 5G on all models, and Apple says the Pro models coming with support for more 5G bands.

“The customized hardware design in the iPhone 13 Pro lineup features more 5G bands, allowing it to work in more places on 5G for greater coverage and performance. By the end of 2021, support for 5G on iPhone will double around the globe, with over 200 carriers worldwide in 60 countries and regions. Users can experience higher-quality video streaming on their favorite platforms, more competitive gameplay in multiplayer games, faster download and upload speeds, and so much more,” the company explained.

The new iPhone 13 lineup will go on pre-order on September 14, with the first units to then be shipped on September 24.

Apple will offer the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro max in a total of four different colors, namely graphite, gold, silver, and sierra blue, with the base models to be available with 128GB of storage.

The star of the show this year, however, is the 1TB version which is making its way to Pro models exclusively, though it goes without saying this will also be the most expensive model in the entire range.
