With a promise to make your Apple TV cinematic experience more entertaining in your living room, on your big screen TV, and the largest collection of 4K HDR movies, the tvOS 12 operating system introduces support for Dolby Atmos audio to Apple TV 4K devices, breathtaking aerials shot from space, and new features that make it easier to access your favorite movies and TV shows.

"With tvOS 12, Apple TV 4K will be the only streaming player both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos certified, delivering the highest quality cinematic experience of stunning 4K HDR visuals and immersive sound that flows all around in three-dimensional space," said Apple. "This fall, iTunes will be home to the largest collection of Dolby Atmos-supported movies anywhere."

tvOS 12 introduces simplified authentication process called zero sign-on

Another exciting new feature of the tvOS 12 operating system is a simplified authentication process called zero sign-on by automatically detecting the user’s broadband network and signing them into their supported apps without them typing anything. The first company to support zero sign-on will be Charter Spectrum later this year when tvOS 12 will be officially released.

The tvOS 12 Developer beta is now available for application developers interested in test driving the upcoming operating system on their Apple TV 4K and Apple TV 4th generation devices. The final release of the tvOS 12 operating system is expected to arrive later this fall along with an all-new Spectrum TV app that brings live channels and tens of thousands of on-demand programs to customers in almost 50 million households worldwide.
