The company has started recording event sessions

Apple is projected to launch the new iPhone 14 in September, as per the company’s typical schedule, and it looks like the Cupertino-based tech giant will stick with a virtual event this time.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple has already started recording some of the sessions that will be streamed during the event, and this suggests that the iPhone is indeed on track for a September event.

“I’m told that Apple has started to record and assemble its September media event, which is likely to take place in the first half of the month (as usual),” Gurman said.

A second fall event

Gurman also explains there’s a good chance that Apple will also hold a second fall event after the iPhone unveiling. This time, however, the focus will be the new-generation iPad and Macs with M2 chips – this isn’t necessarily surprising, as Apple has been using a similar approach in the past as well.

This strategy gives enough exclusive time to new-generation devices, such as the iPhone, without spamming users with too many new products and therefore stealing the show for some of them.

“My current expectation is that there will probably be two events in the fall: that September launch and an October event for the new iPads and Macs. That would fall in line with Apple’s strategy in past years and would save the mixed-reality headset debut for next year, giving it undivided attention,” Gurman said.

Needless to say, Apple has so far remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to the upcoming event, but the company should start sending out the invites in early September. Most likely, the announcement will take place in the first half of the month, with the actual sales to kick off in the second, though it’s not known if all new models will go on sale at the same time.
