Apple is already recording strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro, so the company has decided to ask Foxconn to increase the production.

This is according to well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said in a tweet that the Cupertino-based tech giant to convert the iPhone 14 production lines in order to build the iPhone 14 Pro.

This could also be a sign that the iPhone 14 models aren’t necessarily selling as high as expected, with Apple therefore ready to bet big on the Pro.

Slower demand for the standard iPhone 14

Kuo says Apple has most likely increased the production of the iPhone 14 Pro by as much as 10 percent, with most suppliers to see an increase in orders in the coming weeks.

“Due to strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro models, my latest survey indicates that Apple has asked Hon Hai to switch the production lines of the iPhone 14 to the iPhone 14 Pro models, which will help improve Apple's product mix/iPhone ASP in 4Q22,” Kuo explained.

“Based on the production line conversion rate, it's equivalent to an increase in the shipment forecast of iPhone 14 Pro models in 4Q22 by about 10%. Only a few component suppliers' order changes currently reflect Hon Hai's production line conversion (e.g., Samsung Display). I expect that most of the suppliers should also receive order increase requests for iPhone 14 Pro models from Apple in the next few weeks.”

One of the reasons to get an iPhone 14 Pro and not the standard model is the Dynamic Island, which is exclusive to Pro models – the iPhone 14 and its larger sibling both come with the controversial notch, though it’s believed Apple would bring the Dynamic Island to all models beginning with the iPhone 15 lineup.
