The iPhone 13 Pro comes with several worthy upgrades as compared to its direct successor, the iPhone 12 Pro, and as it turns out, all of these have generated a substantial cost increase for Apple.

In other words, the Cupertino-based tech giant is paying some $20 more to make an iPhone 13 Pro as compared to an iPhone 12 Pro, according to an analysis made by TechInsights.

In theory, based on the cost of components, the estimated build cost of an iPhone 13 Pro is $570, while to make an iPhone 12 Pro, Apple needs to spend $548.50.

Samsung, on the other hand, spends a lot less for the Galaxy S21+, as building this device comes with an estimated build cost of just $508.

The good news is that despite the increased build cost, Apple hasn’t actually raised the prices of the iPhone 13, so the same pricing as for the iPhone 12 was maintained for the new models too.

Trade-in programs

At the same time, Apple has also launched new trade-in programs to make the iPhones more affordable.

“Customers can get iPhone 13 Pro for $41.62 (US) a month for 24 months or $999 (US) before trade-in, and iPhone 13 Pro Max for $45.79 (US) a month for 24 months or $1,099 (US) before trade-in from apple.com/store, in the Apple Store app, and at Apple Store locations,” the company announced.

The most affordable iPhone right now remains the SE, and now everybody expects this 4.7-inch form factor to also get a refresh rather sooner than later.

It’s believed the iPhone mini could at one point become the new SE, especially there’s a chance Apple would eventually give up on the 5.4-inch size due to poor sales. Needless to say, Apple hasn’t said a single thing about such plans so far.
