Microsoft’s Moment 1 update for Windows 11 2022 Update comes with one little surprise (though we knew it was coming anyway): support for Android apps.

That’s right, users can now run Android apps on their Windows 11 devices, as long as they are based in one of the 31 support regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and others.

The Android app support on Windows 11 is powered by the Amazon Appstore app, which is now rolling out on devices running the 2022 update as well.

Needless to say, users must also run the Windows Subsystem for Android, and Microsoft says it’s been working hard with developers to make sure enough apps are available for users.

The number of Android apps on Windows 11 keeps growing

So right now, the feature comes with approximately 50,000 titles, including apps and games.

“Through our partnership with Amazon, you can now access Android apps and games from the Amazon Appstore, generally available in 31 countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, United Kingdom, United States and more,” Microsoft explains.

“With over 50,000 titles to choose from, it’s easy to discover and download your favorite apps and games on your Windows device, such as Project Makeover, Evony: The King’s Return, Coin Master, Kindle, Audible, FlipaClip, Lutron and so many more. Enabled by Windows Subsystem for Android™, developers now have even more ways to bring their apps and games to Windows.”

The Moment 1 update is currently available as a preview update, so users need to manually head over to Windows Update and check for updates. Microsoft, however, will begin the automatic update next month as part of the Patch Tuesday cycle when the update will show up on Windows Update for all devices alongside other security improvements.
