Alleged prices for the upcoming S21 leaked

Samsung is working around the clock to bring the new Galaxy S21 to the market as soon as possible, and people familiar with the matter say the device could see the daylight as soon as January.

This is obviously earlier than anticipated, as Samsung typically took the wraps off the Galaxy S in February and then started the actual sales in March, so this time, the South Koreans are moving faster and want to give the new S21 one extra month on the market.

If the rumor mill is accurate, the unveiling could take place on January 14, while the device would hit the shelves later the same month, possibly on January 29 or January 30.

Samsung has obviously remained completely tight-lipped on the S21, though the company dropped hints it’s planning a big January announcement.

“True to our heritage of staying ahead of the curve with trailblazing mobile tech, we’ll be expanding our portfolio of foldables, so this groundbreaking category is more accessible to everyone. And while we’re already known for our revolutionary cameras, we’ll never stop trying to outdo ourselves — so be on the lookout for super-intelligent, pro-grade camera and video capabilities in 2021. We’ve also been paying attention to people’s favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note experience and are excited to add some of its most well-loved features to other devices in our lineup. I look forward to sharing more in January!” Dr. TM Roh, President & Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics, said not a long time ago.

But despite Samsung’s struggle to keep all details secret, plenty of details about the Galaxy S21 still emerged, and now we know even how much the upcoming device is going to cost.

Of course, the data here might not be accurate, but on the other hand, you should expect the Galaxy S21 to cost close to what you can find here.

First and foremost, a recent report from South Korea indicated the Galaxy S21 would cost between 980,000 and 1.18 million won, and at today’s currency conversion rates, this means in the United States the device might be available starting at $900, with the top Ultra model to begin at $1,085.

The Galaxy S20 started at $999, so if this report is accurate, then the Galaxy S21 could be available from $899 in the United States, something that makes perfect sense, especially because the previous model didn’t sell exactly as anticipated. This could help Samsung make the S21 a more compelling purchase, though it remains to be seen if a lower price is all it needs to accomplish this goal.

Other reports that surfaced earlier this month provided us with an early look at the European pricing of the Galaxy S21, and once again, this leak suggested the cheapest Galaxy S21 could actually be cheaper than its predecessor:

  • Samsung Galaxy S21 - €849
  • Galaxy S21+ -  €1,049
  • Galaxy S21 Ultra - €1,349

These are the European prices for the 128GB models, so depending on how much storage you choose on the Galaxy S21, they could be cheaper or more expensive.

Needless to say, it won’t take long until we find out everything about the Galaxy S21, especially as the unveiling is believed to be just around the corner. If Samsung indeed plans to introduce the smartphone as part of an Unpacked event on January 14, then the company should start dropping teasers about the digital event in the first days of the next year, so we’ll be back next week with more info on this.
