Amazon has just announced a pair of new tablets, and this time, the cheapest version starts at no more, no less than $59.99.

The new-generation Fire 7 and Fire 7 Kids pack important upgrades, so for example, they can be upgraded to as much as 32GB of storage and 2GB of RAM.

Sure, this doesn’t necessarily like a lot, but it’s still a welcome upgrade from the previous models. Powered by a quad-core 2 GHz processor, the new Fire is supposed to offer 10-hour battery life, with the device also packing USB-C and 5w charging.

“Fire 7 is our most popular tablet—and now it’s even better,” said Kevin Keith, vice president of Amazon Devices. “This new generation gives customers more of what they love—improved performance and longer battery life, all for just $59. And for parents looking for a complete kids’ tablet experience, the new Fire 7 Kids has offerings kids love and parents trust, including a year of Amazon Kids+, a virtual playground of ad-free educational and entertainment content that’s like no other.”

The new Kids tablet

Amazon says the new Fire 7 Kids is aimed at children aged 3 and up, and given it’s very affordable, it’s a great way to access educational content.

“The perfect first tablet for kids ages 3 and up, Fire 7 Kids is a tablet kids will love and parents can trust. In addition to a two-year worry-free guarantee, it comes with a one-year Amazon Kids+ subscription, allowing kids to discover fun and educational content and giving parents peace of mind with age-appropriate content,” Amazon says.

While the Fire 7 Kids starts at $109.99 and is available for pre-order today, it doesn’t yet have an ETA. The Fire 7 can be yours from $59.99, with shipping projected to start on June 29.
