Windows 10 version 21H1 is just around the corner

Microsoft is getting ready to release a new Windows 10 feature update, but in the meantime, the company is also working hard on refining the performance of the previous versions.

And this week, the software giant has officially resolved all update blocks for Windows 10 version 20H2, essentially allowing all devices eligible for the update to get this particular release.

Microsoft says the last two bugs, both causing errors during or after updating devices with certain Conexant audio drivers on Windows 10 version 20H2 and Windows 10 version 2004, has finally been addressed, which means that computers previous blocked from getting this feature update can now do so from Windows Update as well.

“The safeguard hold with safeguard IDs 25702617, 25702660, 25702662, and 25702673 has been removed for all devices as of May 7, 2021, including devices with affected drivers,” Microsoft explains.

“If updated drivers are not available for your device and you are offered Windows 10, version 2004 or Windows 10, version 20H2, a small number of devices might roll back to the previous version of Windows 10 when attempting to update. If this occurs, you should attempt to update to Windows 10, version 2004 or Windows 10, version 20H2 again.”

Windows 10 version 21H1 just around the corner

This is an important milestone especially because Microsoft is very close to beginning the public rollout of Windows 10 version 21H1, a new feature update that will come with improvements under the hood and additional refinements.

The RTM build of this particular release is likely to be shipped to Windows Insiders any day one, with the rollout to production devices to kick off later this month.

Windows 10 version 21H1 will therefore be a rather small feature update that will include only a bunch of new features, as the focus is now entirely on the Sun Valley update projected to go live in the fall of this year.
