Samsung has apparently learned its lesson this time

Samsung’s classic approach toward the processor options available on the Galaxy S lineup has always been received with mixed feelings by users around the world.

The company sells the Galaxy S with different processors depending on the market. In the United States, for instance, the device is fitted with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip, while in international markets, such as in Europe, the Galaxy S comes with Samsung’s very own Exynos processor.

While this wouldn’t normally be something that could upset users, the thing that caused so much frustration in the Galaxy S fanbase is the difference in terms of performance between the two chips. The Snapdragon variant is significantly faster, with the Exynos lagging behind its Qualcomm sibling.

Given customers in some markets can’t get the Snapdragon version despite paying the same price, it’s easy to see why so many customers threatened to switch to another brand.

Samsung, however, has apparently learned its lesson, as the company seems to be ready to change this approach with the release of the Galaxy S23

As observed by Ice Universe, Qualcomm’s Q4 2022 Earnings Call includes very solid evidence that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23 could be available with the Snapdragon chip in all markets across the world.

“So, from a March quarter perspective, you're right, the benefit from the Samsung launch for the new phone would be in the -- in kind of the second half of the March quarter. So, it comes in toward the end of the quarter, but that will be an advantage, whereas our share from 75% in G S22 goes up to global share in G S23,” Qualcomm CFO Akash Palkhiwala said.

It’s not clear if the Galaxy S23 being fitted with the Qualcomm chip worldwide also witnesses the demise of the Exynos on this model or the company wants to offer the two processors side by side.
