This new tech will turn your photos into something marvelous with very little effort if it ever gets implemented in PS

Folks over at Adobe teamed up with researchers at Cornell University and have come up with what is perhaps one of the coolest developments in image tech - being able to transfer photo styles from one picture to another.

Sure, there are several other tools out there that can apply, let's say Van Gogh's style on your photos. But instead of just applying pre-determined settings over a photo, this project can mimic the colors and lighting in a photo from a reference image.

Say you have a nice picture with bleak colors and you would really like for it to look like that already photoshopped picture you saw online with vivid colors. Done.

Or perhaps you saw a fantasy photo somewhere with a blood-red sunset. Let's face it; you're never going to get that same effect with your plain camera. But what you can do is edit your sunset photo to borrow that unrealistic photo's style.

Perfect for all amateurs and pros alike

This is an extremely impressive piece of algorithm that can make great adjustments that you would probably overlook if you photoshopped the image by hand, like making sure the reflections are accurate and so on. Since it simply copies the style and not a chunk of someone else's picture onto yours, it will look original.

Researchers said they used deep-learning methods to achieve this feat, especially when it comes to methods of capturing the lighting and color cues from the reference image. They also worked on a way to constrain the transformation so that changes are applied in a natural way to the target photo without it looking like something a five-year-old put together.

Seeing the awesome results of this technology makes us wish that it will someday make it into Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom sooner rather than later because everyone needs to be able to do this type of photo transformation with just a few button pushes.
