You can now install Lightroom from the Microsoft Store

Adobe has officially released Lightroom in the Microsoft Store, and while this launch is a notable moment for both Microsoft and Adobe, users have a different reason to be happy about it: Lightroom can be installed without the need for Creating Cloud.

Adobe apps are typically offered through the Creative Cloud app, but given Lightroom is thus available from the Microsoft Store, being logged in with a Microsoft account is all you need to download this version.

The Microsoft Store release doesn’t seem to come with any differences in terms of features as compared to the traditional version, so you won’t be losing anything in terms of functionality.

Furthermore, Lightroom lands in the Microsoft Store with a 7-day trial, which you can download at absolutely no cost.

Windows 10 version 1903 and newer required

Lightroom can be purchased directly from the Microsoft Store using nothing more than the Microsoft account. Adobe explains in the official description of the app in the Store:

“Your first week is free. Once your free trial ends, the recurring monthly payment or upfront payment for a year in full, whichever option you selected, is automatically charged to your Microsoft account. To stop service, go to account settings and turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of your billing period. Prorating is unavailable – when you turn off auto-renew, service will continue until the end of that billing period.”

Furthermore, if you already have a Lightroom subscription, you can very well enable it in the Microsoft Store version as well.

Installing Adobe Lightroom from the Microsoft Store requires at least Windows 10 version 1903 (May 2019 Update), so if your device has already been updated to Windows 10 version 1909 (November 2019 Update), you’re good to go. At least 4GB RAM are required to get the app from the Store.
