Acer has just announced two new Chromebooks for the education market, namely the Acer Chromebook Spin 512 (R853TA) and Acer Chromebook Spin 511 (R753T).

The Spin 511 comes with an 11.6-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, while the Spin 512 sports a 12-inch screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio. Both are powered by the latest generation Intel N4500 and N5100 processors, and according to Acer, they will be offered with up to 8GB RAM and 64GB eMMC storage.

“The new Acer Chromebooks both have 360-degree hinges that make four different usage modes possible, enabling students to do more with their device. Plus, they have up to an 8MP MIPI world-facing camera to capture images and also an 88-degree wide-field-of-view HDR webcam for online classes and chats. For privacy, the device includes a physical shutter that can be closed at any time,” Acer explains in a press release today.

Both devices come with Wi-Fi 6 and feature two USB 3.2 Type-C ports, as well as two USB 3.2 Type-A connectors. Bluetooth 5.1 is also available on the new Chromebooks.

ASTM F963-16 and UL/IED 60950-1 rating

The Spin 512 will go on sale in the United States in April and in EMEA markets in March, with pricing to start at $429.99 and EUR 399, respectively. The Spin 511, on the other hand, will hit the North American shelves in April with a $399.99 starting price tag, while in Europe, it’ll go on sale in March 2021 from EUR 369.

“Both Chromebooks feature mechanically anchored keys that are difficult to remove and easy to replace, ideal for education settings. The quickly serviceable keyboards are spill-resistant with a gutter system that routes up to 330 ml (11 fluid ounces) of water away from internal components to be drained out the bottom of the chassis. The touchpads are also moisture-resistant, maintaining high standards of quality control,” Acer says.

Both devices have received the ASTM F963-16 and UL/IED 60950-1 certification, so they’re safe for young children.
