YouTube is turning six years old today and it's marking the occasion with a few more updates on just how much bigger it is than the last time it bragged about how big it is. And, again, the stats are impressive if to be expected.

Users are uploading more videos than ever, it's now up to two days-worth of video uploaded each minute. And they're watching more clips as well, three billion videos are streamed each day.

"In May 2005, the YouTube founders launched YouTube.com, providing people with a platform to broadcast themselves to the world. Six years on, the world is watching and we wanted to say thank you to the YouTube community for a couple of amazing birthday presents," YouTube wrote.

"Today, more than 48 hours (two days worth) of video are uploaded to the site every minute, a 37% increase over the last six months and 100% over last year," it revealed.

For its fifth birthday, YouTube revealed that people were uploading a day's worth of video each minute, a huge figure. Now it has already doubled that. Clearly, with all of the focus on professional content, the site is still very much about user generated content and the long tail.

Of course, just how many of the videos uploaded each minute are viewed by more than just a few friends or random searchers, YouTube doesn't say.

People are watching YouTube though, no doubt about it, be it professional content - even movies, webcam shows or viral videos, users are now watching three billion videos each day.

Last year, two billion videos were being streamed daily, now it's 50 percent above that. And there doesn't seem to be any stopping YouTube, as more people get broadband connections, accustomed to watching video online and as more video are being uploaded, view counts are only going to go up.
