Mobile phone carrier O2 UK has just made the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY smartphone available for purchase for £149.99 on pre-paid plans on its airwaves.

One thing that is certain is that enthusiasts will find this deal very appealing, especially since the smartphone is available for about one third of the price it featured when launched back in May.

The smartphone will still be carrier-branded, with its SIM card slot locked, but the deal still seems very appealing.

Especially since the mobile phone packs a 4-inch touchscreen display, along with a fast 1GHz application processor, and the already popular sliding gamepad that sports all of the usual PlayStation controls.

The mobile phone is based on Google's Android operating system and offers access to exclusive games, as well as to the usual applications available in the Android Market. Xperia PLAY can be seen at O2 UK here.
