Microsoft has confirmed that it has yet to set a concrete release date for its Xbox One next-gen console, so any launch dates mentioned by retailers are just placeholders, emphasizing that the recently rumored November 27 date isn't true.

The Xbox One received not just an actual price of 499 USD/EUR back at E3 2013 a couple of weeks ago, but also a release period of November 2013.

Since then, different retailers have posted different launch dates for the next-gen device, with the most recent being Amazon, which pinned a November 27 release date on the console.

Microsoft has offered a statement, via IGN, emphasizing that all launch dates mentioned by retailers are placeholders, as it has yet to determine an actual time when the Xbox One will be available.

"We have not informed our retail partners about a specific launch date for the Xbox One," the company said. "It is commonplace for retailers to put placeholders dates and prices into our system until they are given a specific date and price. We are excited to release the Xbox One in November 2013."

Xbox One fans should expect a release date announcement in the near future.
