A HTC Touch Dual look-alike

No, it's not a mere resemblance, the XDA Star is actually almost identical with the HTC Touch Dual smartphone. Or the HTC Nike, or FOMA HT1100, or HTC Touch Slide. The device has come under so many names up to this point that it's difficult to keep track.

Whatever it might be called, the handset brings the same performances and a HTC Touch design improved by the added slider that reveals a numeric keypad. The mobile phone will arrive at O2 in the near future, under the name of XDA Star and running Windows Mobile 6 Professional and the TouchFLO interface that HTC now plans to use in as many of its future smartphones as possible.

The fact that this is a 3G enabled handset is a big advantage for it, as it will manage to reach the high data transfer speeds for handling personal and business files. The 2.6 inch QVGA display makes the best of the touchscreen technology that has become so popular over the past period.

The phone also includes a 2 megapixel camera and a secondary VGA one that is used for placing video calls and making the best of its high speed 3G connection. Bluetooth 2.0 and USB connectivity are also available, which should also leave an important mark on the handset's functionality. Overall, it proves to be another one of the evolved smartphones that this producer has kept a low word on and a surprise release.

The producer has just officially unveiled the HTC Dual Slide, also hinting towards a close European release. Still, it said nothing of the XDA Star phone and O2 was not one of the carriers mentioned. Latest information shows something else, hinting towards a release from this operator in Germany. XDA Star will be available in early November for EUR 30 with a two-year contract.
