One of the most popular game franchises, XCOM, is about to get bigger with the addition of Firaxis' new XCOM: Enemy Unknown title.

Set to be released on October 12 (October 9 in North America), the game is now available for preload on Steam.

Fans of the franchise who already pre-purchased the game will also receive a free copy of Sid Meier's Civilization V game. In case they already own the game, they can give it away to their friends.

Developer Firaxis Games offers additional rewards for those who pre-purchased XCOM: Enemy Unknown, such as a new recruit in their barracks inspired by one of the older XCOM titles.

In addition, they will get three exclusive XCOM Team Fortress 2 items: The Crafty hair, Area 451 and The Vigilant Pin.
