The development team at Firaxis who is working on the new XCOM: Enemy Unknown has launched the first footage taken from inside the rebooted strategy and tactics game, showing gamers a bit of what they can expect from the experience.

The development team offers commentary on the entire video and talks about how the base is fully customizable and can be used to focus on different areas of the game.

It will also serve as a hub for players to engage with the characters in the game.

The video also suggests that the game will offer some interesting revelations about the nature of the aliens that are invading Earth, which might be a little different from their nature in the classic game.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 at some point during the fall of 2012.

An action take on the concept is also under development and should arrive during 2013.
