14 DAY TRIAL // Blizzard has just offered some details and screenshots concerning the upcoming model update for World of Warcraft's Blood Elf race, depicting the old and new designs, while sharing details about the emphasis on slight but essential improvements.
World of Warcraft has been around for 10 years, and during this time, the games industry has kept on improving in terms of visuals and graphics effects, so the old MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) is beginning to show its age through its blocky character models and low-resolution textures.
During the last year or so, developer Blizzard has worked hard on overhauling the models for each of the main races in World of Warcraft, while delivering themed updates as well as the recent Warlords of Draenor expansion.
New models are coming for the Blood Elf race
After showing some love to the humans, the Orcs, or the Night Elves, Blizzard is now talking about the Blood Elf race and how its models will soon be improved.
According to the official website, Blizzard is keenly aware that the existing old races are looking even worse in comparison to the updated ones, but right now, it wants to deliver quality improvements and can't rush the process, as it would result in a poor implementation and even glitches.
"We don’t have an exact ETA for when you’ll see these in-game, but we’re happy with the direction of this update with regards to the model and textures; we’re now focusing on model and texture variations, as well as rigging and animating. We’ve streamlined the process quite a bit, so hopefully those things will go smoothly and we’ll be able to roll these out quickly," the studio explains.
Blood Elf female and male models are looking good
According to the developer, the Blood Elf race has always stood out from other races found in the Horde faction, and the new character update doesn't want to fix what wasn't broken in terms of philosophy.
Both the male and female characters will retain their characteristic look but there will be many more details concerning their faces, their hair, their undergarments or their animations.
"We’re excited to get these models in the game, and are working hard to make that happen as quickly as possible—though as ever, quality is paramount, and presenting the best, most highly polished work we can will always come first," the studio adds.
