Developer MachineGames and publisher Bethesda are announcing that they are delaying Wolfenstein: The New Order to 2014 so that the team working on the first-person shooter has more time to polish the experience.

Pete Hines, a vice president in charge of PR and marketing, tells Polygon that, "Because it’s just not trying to be a shooter, because it’s trying to be a shooter that also has driving elements, story elements, narrative, stealth sections - each one of those has to be excellent."

The executive says that MachineGames wants to make The New Order the best Wolfenstein game ever released and the extra development time will give it a chance to make sure that each aspect of the experience is close to perfection.

The game will be launched on the PC, the current generation of consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
