Microsoft continues its efforts to move users from the 11-year-old Windows XP to a newer platform but, as far as many consumers are concerned, they will stick to this operating system until the very last minute.

Windows XP will be officially retired in 1 year and 21 days or, if you prefer, in 386 days, so its users still have enough time to migrate to a new operating system, be it Windows 7 or Windows 8.

According to the latest statistics provided by Net Applications, Windows XP remains the second most popular operating system in the world, with a market share of nearly 39 percent. Windows 7 continues to lead the market, as almost 45 percent of computers worldwide are running it.

Windows XP, on the other hand, proves to be a surprisingly popular platform, even though analysts and security experts warn that it will soon become a very vulnerable piece of software without any other Microsoft updates and fixes.

With all these being said, the final countdown continues for Windows XP, so make sure you move to a newer operating system as soon as possible. Use the comment box below to tell us your choice.
