South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics might bring to the market in the United States a new smartphone running under Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system in the not too distant future, and it has already received the necessary approvals for it from the FCC.

The phone was spotted at the feds with model number Samsung SCH-R860U attached to it, and with network connectivity options that would make it fit for the wireless carrier US Cellular.

The smartphone also received the necessary approvals with Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n and Bluetooth connectivity inside, NFC capabilities, and LTE, yet no other official details on it have been unveiled so far.

According to a post on Blog of Mobile, however, the handset should indeed prove to be a Windows Phone 8 device for US Cellular’s network.
