Microsoft rolled out several major improvements for the built-in Windows 8 Modern apps, as the company is getting ready to bring the Windows Blue upgrade to the market.

Aside from plenty of important changes brought to Mail, People, and Calendar, Microsoft has also removed support for Google’s Calendar, as the Mountain View-based search company decided to pull the plug on Exchange ActiveSync.

From now on, users are displayed an error saying that “we can’t connect because Google no longer supports Exchange ActiveSync. Reconnect to get your emails and contacts using a different method. Cancel to save your email drafts and reconnect later.”

Microsoft is also expected to roll out improvements for the other Windows 8 Modern apps too, including Sports, News, and Weather. Xbox Music has already received several enhancements, so expect new updates anytime soon.
