Windows 8.1 Update 1 is expected to launch on April’s Patch Tuesday cycle, but it turns out that Microsoft is close to completing the development process and a leak of the RTM build could reach the web anytime soon.

Famous Windows leaker WZor is revealing that Windows 8.1 Update 1 is being delivered in the MSU format, with the build number currently settled at 19942.

While nobody knows for sure whether this information is indeed accurate or not, it would pretty much make sense, especially because Microsoft will deliver the pack via Windows Update and could also make it available for download separately.

A leak could follow in the coming days, sources have said, so we’ll keep you posted as more information on the upcoming Windows 8.1 Update 1 emerges and we’re getting closer to the public launch.
