Work continues on Windows 8.1 Update 1 and it turns out that a new version has unofficially reached the web and can now be downloaded by users.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 Build 9600.17025 was recently compiled and was already submitted to Microsoft partners for testing purposes.

At this point, it’s not yet clear if there are any big changes in this new release, but given the fact that Windows 8.1 Update 1 has already reached RTM Escrow development stage, expect this build to include only bug fixes and performance improvements.

Just like the previous leaks that come in the form of an MSU file, this new build requires a fully up-to-date Windows 8.1 RTM installation, so if you’re going to give it a try, make sure you install all rollup packs released by Microsoft since October 2013.
