To distribute adverts on the web

Google strikes again. This time it's the Yellow Pages Group which signed a deal with the Mountain View company in order to distribute advertisements on the Internet. The entire process will be enhanced by Google AdWords, the advertising platform which will support the deal and place adverts on the search engine results page and on the Google Maps pages. According to Reuters, Yellow Pages is the first Canadian reseller which signs a deal with AdWords.

"Under the agreement, YPG will be able to provide its approximately 425,000 advertisers an enhanced advertising offering," said Yellow Pages for Reuters.

But the interesting fact is that Yellow Pages will bring more than simple adverts distributed on the web. As you surely know, Yellow Pages is the largest phone book publisher in Canada so it includes contact details for lots of companies. What Yellow Pages aims to do is publishing adverts for the registered firms on the web using Google's advertising platform. This way, typing a certain keyword that matches the Yellow Pages entry will display the adverts redirecting to a registered Yellow Pages client. Pretty interesting, isn't it?

Google's AdWords is one of the top advertising platforms on the web as it has lots of registered consumers all over the world. In the recent period, the Mountain View company has struggled to expand this solution in the traditional media by signing deals with lots of firms in order to support this move.

A long time ago, when Google first announced its plans to evolve in the offline media, it also made agreements with several US newspapers which were supposed to publish the AdWords advertisements into their pages. Then, the plans evolved and Google made partnerships with US radio stations to create audio ads and play them for the country's listeners. The most recent and as far I can see, the most attracting campaign, is taking the advertising straight to the streets by publishing ads on the billboards.
