A new update has been released for Popcorn Time

Streaming movies and TV shows directly from torrents without having to download them is the main purpose of Popcorn Time. The devs have released a small update for the application and they have fixed a number of small problems that have been reported by the community.

First of all, let’s get the legal part out of the way. The status of Popcorn Time is a grey one, but surprisingly enough, it is not illegal everywhere. Some countries out there, like Portugal for example, have said that P2P sharing is not a crime, so applications like Popcorn Time don't break any laws.

Other countries have much stricter laws and it's possible that you might be breaking the law when using this app. Make sure you know what you are doing before starting the application.

This is using a BitTorrent engine, so all the files are downloaded from online sources. Users are not able to save the files locally, but that doesn't mean that they won't be sharing the stuff that they are watching.

This is not done in a transparent way, so unless you have something like Frostwire to check the traffic, you won't know exactly what's happening.

Popcorn Time is now even much better

The devs have been working hard to improve the application and they have made a number of changes and improvements. It's nothing major and that is reflected in the version number, which remained largely the same. This is Hotfix 3 for the 0.3.5 branch of Popcorn Time, although the version number could have easily increased.

"Hey everyone, It's time again for yet another hotfix! This one brings all kinds of goodies for those of you with ChromeCast and Airplay devices. We heard your screams, and we've answered them! As always, I hope this hotfix will resolve a lot of the issues that you guys have been having. Hotfixes are automatically downloaded and applied to your Popcorn Time! If you're having issues with it not actually updating, or getting stuck in a download loop, please re-download Popcorn Time," is noted in the announcement.

The devs have explained that the update process has been improved, a bug that was breaking the update process on Linux has been corrected, it's now possible to reset the databases when the download becomes locked, ChromeCast is now working properly, and a few smaller fixes have been implemented.

You can download the latest Popcorn Time 0.3.5 release from Softpedia. This is a binary file and it doesn't need to be installed.
