The first quarter of the next year will provide the owners of Windows Phone 7.5 devices with the possibility to enjoy a nice range of enhancements on their smartphones, as Microsoft will deliver to them the 7.8 flavor of the mobile operating system.

The company has already provided some info on what the new software release will be all about, but it has yet to detail them to the fullest.

The new Start screen in Windows Phone 8 will be included in the update, along with a new theme and accent colors, a new lockscreen, and other changes as well. New and updated apps will also be available for Windows Phone 7.8 users, Microsoft announced.

Owners of a Nokia Lumia 900 smartphone interested in learning more on how their devices will look like when updated should check out the video above, although it does not show the final WP 7.8 release.
