Android freaks and tinkerers rejoice, as Verizon's HTC Thunderbolt is now available for just a penny from Amazon Wireless.

This is the best deal ever offered for the Thunderbolt, even though the smartphone was the subject of multiple price cuts in the last two months.

The best promotion on the Thunderbolt was run by Amazon three weeks ago and retailed the smartphone for only $49.99 with new two-year agreement, but today's deal beats any previous offers.

Unfortunately, those who wish to upgrade won't be able to benefit from this offer, instead they can get the Thunderbolt for $119.99, which is still a good deal.

Although it's not the most powerful Android smartphone out there, the Thunderbolt is still one of the few LTE devices that work on Verizon Wireless 4G Mobile Broadband network, with expected download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps.

In addition, the handset is equipped with a fast single core 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon processor and offers a brilliant 4.3-inch Super LCD capacitive multi-touch display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

HTC Thunderbolt packs 8 GB of internal memory, 768 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Amazon delivers the phone along with a free 32 GB microSD memory card in the sales package.

The phone is powered by Google's Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform, but a Gingerbread upgrade is now in the works and could be released in the next few weeks.

It is also worth mentioning that the phone features HTC Sense 2.1 user interface, which might seem a bit old, but at least it works fine.

The phone offers an array of connectivity options, including Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking with Mobile Hotspot capabilities, Bluetooth, integrated speakers with Dolby Mobile + SRS WOW HD surround sound, and DLNA certification.
